What is an EV truck?
An EV truck (electric vehicle truck) is a commercial truck powered entirely by battery-electric drivetrain instead of a diesel engine. Our Dongfeng EV trucks use CATL LFP battery packs (262–600 kWh) and LvKong electric drive axles, delivering 282–510 kW continuous power with zero tailpipe emissions for port, mining, municipal and city logistics work.
How far can a Dongfeng EV truck drive on one charge?
Range depends on the model and payload. TE series electric tractors reach up to 350 km per charge with a 600 kWh pack, while KT5M electric cargo trucks cover 200–280 km on 262–310 kWh. Constant-speed trials of loaded vehicles show less than 8% battery drain per 100 km on flat routes. Battery-swap versions refill in 5–6 minutes.
How long does it take to charge an EV truck?
Dual-gun DC fast charging at 350 kW charges 20% to 80% in about 40–60 minutes depending on pack size. Fleets running 24/7 shifts can choose swap-battery models that exchange a full pack in under 6 minutes at a swap station.
Are EV trucks cheaper to run than diesel trucks?
Yes. Electricity typically costs 60–80% less than diesel fuel per kilometre, and an electric drivetrain has far fewer wearing parts — no engine oil, filters, turbo or exhaust after-treatment. Most high-utilisation fleets recover the purchase premium within 1.5–3 years, then keep saving for the rest of the 8-year / 4,500-cycle battery warranty life.
Which EV truck is best for mining, ports and heavy loads?
For mining and construction, the TZ series 8×4 electric dump trucks (KTA1, TZ3Z, TZ3V) handle 55–80 t GCVW with 400–600 kWh packs. For ports and short-haul container work, the TE46 4×2 electric tractor (42 t GCW) is the most popular choice. For city logistics, KT5M/KTH electric box trucks are the low-cost workhorses.
