A metals distributor hauls steel coil and block marble from mills and quarries to a rail siding 180 km away under heavy-transport permits at 65–80 t combinations. A 49 t tractor cannot legally or safely run this freight. The TE8M's heavier GCW rating, reinforced driveline and larger pack make it the only correct choice of the two; its energy consumption at 70+ t rises to roughly 170–200 kWh per 100 km, which the 500–600 kWh class battery absorbs for the 180 km leg plus margin, and regenerative braking on the return descent recovers meaningful energy.
