The KT5M is the trunk link: warehouse-to-warehouse transfers, port drayage of palletised cargo, and bulk delivery to large-format retail. The KT5J is the last-mile layer: high-frequency market and shop delivery with a walk-through cab that lets the crew work the load without leaving the vehicle. Even after the depot energy investment, the project clears payback inside three to four years at these fuel prices — and the saving is largely immune to the naira's diesel-linked volatility, because the electric alternative's input is solar and off-peak grid, not imported fuel.
Nigeria imposes import duty on completely knocked-down and fully built commercial vehicles; EV trucks are assessed under the same HS chapter as their diesel counterparts, so there is no EV penalty — but also, at present, no federal EV incentive to bank on. The practical import path for a Lagos fleet: RORO or container shipment to Apapa or Tin Can Island, pre-shipment inspection under the Nigerian scheme, SONCAP conformity documentation, and careful battery paperwork — UN 38.3 test summaries, MSDS and IMDG-compliant packing declarations, which we as the exporter prepare as standard.
