Dust Down the Haul Road: KT3F Electric Sprinkler Truck for Vietnam's Quarry and Cement Corridors

Vietnam's construction boom runs on aggregates, and aggregates run on haul roads — the unpaved loops connecting the north's limestone quarries, the cement plants of Ha Nam, Ninh Binh and Quang Ninh, and the crushing and screening circuits that feed them. On those haul roads, the water truck is a legal requirement as much as an operational tool: dust suppression is written into quarry environmental permits and cement-plant operating conditions, and in the dry season a haul road without a functioning water truck is a haul road that gets shut. We have covered the KT3F's municipal dust-control mission and its solar-hybrid charging; this piece is the industrial electric truck application in Vietnam — the quarry and cement corridor, where the KT3F electric sprinkler truck works alongside the KTH3 electric cargo truck fleets that move the material itself.

Why the Quarry Water Truck Is the Easiest Electric Case on the Site

Of every vehicle on an aggregate site, the water truck has the most electric-friendly duty profile:

KT3F on Quarry Duty: The Numbers

MetricDiesel water truckKT3F electric
Daily duty8–10 h, 80–120 km of wateringsame
Energy/fuel per day~55–70 L diesel incl. pump idle~90–120 kWh
Daily energy cost~USD 45–58~USD 7–11 at industrial tariff
Maintenance per year~USD 6,500 (dust ingestion, idle hours)~USD 2,800
Annual operating saving~USD 12,000–14,000

One number deserves emphasis: dust ingestion. A quarry water truck's diesel engine breathes the very dust it suppresses, and its air-filter and turbo-replacement schedule reflects that. The KT3F's sealed electric drivetrain has no air intake to clog — on the dustiest site on the mountain, that is a maintenance advantage worth more than the fuel line.

Charging at the Crusher

The charging design is a single point: one 120 kW DC charger at the crusher or loadout apron, where the truck refills its 10–15 m³ tank two to four times a day. Tank refill takes 15–25 minutes at a plant fill point; a 120 kW charger returns 30–50 kWh in the same window — roughly a third of a shift's energy, harvested entirely from time the truck was standing still anyway. With mid-shift tank-refill charging, a KT3F on CATL 200 kWh runs an unlimited dry-season day: the pack never empties because every water stop is a charge stop. Overnight, the truck trickle-charges on the same point, arriving each morning at 100%.

The Cement Corridor Application

Around Vietnam's cement plants the mission widens: internal-plant road watering, stockyard and clinker-yard suppression, and the plant-access roads where neighbouring-commune relations are decided by the dust that crosses the fence. Cement plants are Vietnam's most sophisticated industrial power users, and several already host fleet charging for their internal loaders and trucks — adding a KT3F charging point is an incremental request, not a project. The same truck that waters the haul road can, with a front-spray bar change, serve the pack-house aprons — one platform, every dust mission on the site.

Environmental Compliance as the Business Case

Vietnam's quarry and cement operators face tightening environmental inspection — dust emissions are among the most-cited violation categories in the sector, and community complaints around aggregate sites carry real regulatory consequences. The KT3F strengthens the compliance file twice over: it suppresses dust better (consistent spray pressure from the electric pump, independent of engine speed) and it adds a zero-emission vehicle to the site fleet, which in environmental-impact reviews and permit renewals reads as operator commitment rather than operator cost. Several of our Vietnamese conversations in this sector started with the environmental officer, not the fleet manager — the procurement followed the compliance file.

Receiving and Support

KT3F units ship to Hai Phong or Da Nang in 10–14 days from China, with the Vietnamese import package — type registration support, customs entry with EV incentive documentation, LHD standard, Vietnamese-language materials and crew training. The quarry-specified variant adds the tropical package for Vietnam's humidity and a reinforced suspension specification for haul-road duty — the same specification logic as our mining sprinkler deployments, scaled to the quarry environment.

Every quarry in Vietnam waters its roads; almost all of them burn imported diesel to do it. The KT3F turns a compliance cost into the cheapest, cleanest kilometre on the site — charged at the crusher, filled at the tank, and never idle. The operators who convert their water fleet first will wonder what took the rest so long.
